HOUR ONE: Our poll question of the day, “What’s your favorite all time song?” We invited everyone to wish Shane a happy 64th birthday. Corey Stapleton announced his intention to run for Montana Governor yesterday on Montana Talks with Aaron Flint. Apple gives the stock market a big fat negative today as they missed their predicted projections.
HOUR TWO: Believe it or not the 2020 election cycle has already begun. Elizabeth Warren has officially announced that she will run. Tom and Shane run through a list of other possible Democrat candidates. Shane also explained how Canadian elections differ from ours here in the US. Why do people confuse democracy with a representative republic? Tom and Shane discuss. The state sales tax popped up again.
HOUR THREE: Facebook is in the spotlight again for its privacy issues. Investors are wondering if the time has come for Zuckerberg to step down. Another high-level meeting between the president and congress goes nowhere as the partial government shutdown continues. The new congress is sworn in.

HOUR ONE: Our poll question of the day, “Funniest Movie Ever?” got a lot of response from listeners both on our text line and the phone. We talked about Gov. Bullock’s pre-school program and the $30 million grant to fund it. The dissolving of the Trump Foundation and some of the questionable use of funds. Eureka, California March cancelled because too any whites signed up. And the new House of Rep. will be sworn in and fun can begin
HOUR TWO: More American Indian women are being abducted both is the US and Canada. New York City birth certificates will no longer have to list the gender of the child as of January first. More on sales tax and property taxes being proposed by Kerry White in the Montana Legislature.
HOUR THREE: Mike McCormick was our guest the first half hour and discussion lead to a possible recession returning in 2019. Also, investors wanted to know where the safe haven for your money will be. Tom, Shane and Mike discuss what ten things are holding the markets up. And where the markets will be as we move into 2019.

HOUR ONE: Montana’s minimum wage is going up January 1, 2019 from $8.30/hr. to $8.50/hr. MSU alumni is trying to raise $406 million dollars this year. You can make a tax-deductible donation as long as it’s postmarked by Dec. 31. Legislators are being asked to return mental health dollars to 2017 levels when they convene in January. And of course the wall.
HOUR TWO: Tom officially put in for the morning show job — again. The new House of Representatives will be sworn in this January. Is impeachment on the table? China and the tariffs and Jennifer Warren perhaps making a run at the presidency.
HOUR THREE: We cover the 882nd New Year’s Day Parade. Floats, The Belgrade Mime Band, The Half in the Bagpipe band from Butte, fireworks, and more. Due to some technical difficulties some of the sound effects didn’t work until a few minutes into the parade.

The Last Half Hour of Open for Business was preempted by MSU basketball.
HOUR ONE: This hour was devoted to the rollercoaster ride of the stock market which experienced the worst December since 1931. We also covered the F.A.N.G. (Facebook, Apple, Netflix, Google) Stocks. Also tariffs and world markets
HOUR TWO: In this hour cryptocurrency was the hot topic. Callers asked for a clear explanation of how bitcoins work and a caller wanted advice in bitcoin investing.
LAST HALF HOUR: In our final segment Shane did the last weekly market report of the year and it wasn’t pretty. We talked about currency in general and the value of a dollar. The Go Fund Me Page for the wall topped $18 million in just 12 days.

A Montana Legislator is proposing a bill for a Montana state Rock n’ Roll written by a Billings student in 1959 called Hippy, Hippy Shake. Click the link to hear it.
HOUR TWO: Trump trip to Iraq and the media fallout. Removal of troops from Syria a good or bad thing — Tom and Shane discuss. Why is North America so prosperous and South America isn’t? Callers continued to want to know more about the possibility of a local option sales tax or a statewide sales tax.
HOUR THREE: Guest Attorney Jennifer Bordy gives us the Top Legal Stories of the Year. Can you guess number one?

HOUR ONE: Our poll question of the day: “Government Shutdown: Good or Bad?” The Montana Legislature prepares to take up infrastructure along with Medicaid. Where will the money come from?
HOUR TWO: Paydays for some government employees fell on the day before the shutdown. So, it would seem no one went home without a Christmas check. Stock market went big yesterday and came back down today. We explain why. We also talked about the possible candidates on the Democrat side for president in 2020.
HOUR THREE: Rep. Kerry White is planning on introducing a sales tax bill that would reduce or eliminate property taxes. Tom and Shane explore how that might work. We also asked listeners for a name for the morning show and also float ideas for the New Year’s Parade on December 31.

HOUR ONE: Today’s Poll Question of the Day: “Should Teachers Carry Guns In School?” A bill will be introduced in the legislature to allow teachers to carry concealed weapons in schools. There also seem to be a rise in cremation in Montana as religious institutions are getting laxer in their opposition to the practice.
HOUR TWO: We discussed the meaning of a ‘CR’ or continuing resolution and how that works. The departure of James Mattis as Defense Secretary. The debt ceiling, money management and the rapidly declining stock market.
HOUR THREE: Guest Mike McCormick, McCormick Investment Advisors. Mike, Shane and Tom try to ascertain where the markets are headed in 2019. Tariffs, the new House of Representatives. Will they go after Trump or will they try to build a series of successes moving toward 2020? Listen in to this commercial free broadcast.

TODAY’S SHOW: Our poll question of the day: “What’s the most unusual holiday gift you’ve ever received.” The GoFundMe wall page did $800,000 in the three hours we were on the air. We were all over the place today. The looming shutdown of government, the General Mattis resignation, pulling out of Syria, the stock market roller coaster, oil down, Jennifer Bordy finishes out the show with the passage of the new sentencing guidelines.

HOUR ONE: Stock market takes a dive, doctor shortage and Canadian Healthcare, the Curry Café racism posts going viral all over the valley, Facebook selling your info to others, Gov. Jerry Brown of California warns new governor he may not be able to curtail Democrat spending. Ted Cruz has the answer for funding the wall.
HOUR TWO: Callers upset that $ 10 billion dollars is being sent to Mexico and other South American countries to pay migrants not to come to the US. The Continuing Resolution expires on 12/21/18. Will Trump shut down the government? Trumps removing troops from Syria – Will this revive ISIS?
HOUR THREE: More comments on Syria, a public go fund me site raised over $200,000 each hour we were on the air — over $8 million when the show ended. North Korea will not give up the quest for nuclear weapons unless “denuclearization” is redefined. Our last caller of the day was upset with the bias of the Livingston Enterprise.

HOUR ONE: Our poll question of the day, “White Privilege: True or False?” We talked about the new bill being proposed that would impose a 2.5 percent sales tax across Montana and eliminate the property tax. Gallatin County has paid over $600 thousand for three easements in the county. Bump stocks are in the cross hairs of the Feds and more threats to our 2nd Amendment. Congress released transcripts of James Comey’s testimony from this past Monday. We put it up on our kmmsam.com web site under Tom’s Blogs.
HOUR TWO: Tom’s refusal to cooperate with the US Census. He says count his household as two people — no other information needed. A caller was frustrated about not being able to change the legislature. More on the Army Corp of Engineers building the wall without congressional approval. Arizona names Martha McSally to serve John McCain’s term until 2020 then an election will be held for his last two years.
HOUR THREE: Guest Mike McCormick – McCormick Financial Advisors. The Federal Reserve is looking to raise interest rate which did create a downturn in the markets. Mike thinks that stocks are oversold, Shane says rate hikes help strengthen the US Dollar. Property taxes, Prop 13 out of California, were also a hot topic and GoFundMe.com has a fund called “We the people will fund the wall.” They’ve collected more than half a million dollars so far.
